Pascal-Kovalev should be for the WBC mandatory

I remember Rubio-Golovkin was for the WBC mandatory, meaning Cotto cannot avoid GGG forever.

It would be good for boxing if Pascal-Kovalev was for the WBC mandatory.

Adonis the Duck woud then likely vacate the title, rather than face the winner. But at least we'd have a unified champion and clarification in the light heavyweight division.

Aquacknis needs to be stripped. We would have been much better off if Dawson wouldn't have gotten himself knocked out

GGG for the mando hasn't really shown if it'll do anything right now... if anything, it's just a way for the WBC to dip their hands in GGG's pocket with a useless belt and sanctioning fees

But won't Cotto need to fight GGG by the end of 2015?

Mandatory would actually make it easier to duck because Stevenson will just take it to purse bid, and Kovalev/Pascal will not will not fight for 30% of the purse as mandated by the WBC rules.

They would probably make it a special case - there's allowances within their rules to make it even 50/50 in special cases (unifications or where the challenger is a significantly bigger draw) and my guess is that Kovalevs 3 belts would qualify for such a ruling.

They might if Roc Nation put in a big bid. In which case, Haymon would likely have Adonis vacate.

Incidentally OP, wasn't Rubio interim champion? does Pascal hold that same belt?

Stevenson would probably vacate and tout the 'real champion' line.

Don't know if the WBC want to tangle with Haymon for Kovalev/Pascal's sake either.

No, but he's the official WBC mandatory.

That's what I'm thinking, Adonis will just vacate like quillin
