Doubt it. Lara seemed to be known amongst boxing fans only. Boxing is for casual now.
Does Lara have a big fanbase?

Yes he does.
Texans get behind all of their fighters, it's one of the reasons why I'm a big Lara fan. He's been living in H-Town for the last 5 years or so.
He participates in a lot of community events too, helping out the needy and what not. He doesn't do it for publicity either he does it because he's lived that life and knows how it feels to be down and out.
Lara's living 'The American Dream' right now, that's why he took on that nickname.Comment

Maybe he is beginning to build something up in Texas that crowd was certainly pro Lara. The fight was pretty good and Lara was landing the best shots with his straight left.
People do like to dog him as boring and his style is rather lack luster but he tends to fight to the level of his opposition which tends to leave him in rather even fights (or closer than they should be) some of which suck but at least they are competitive and they don't always suck.Comment
