  • Sturm offered 1.2M

    Monday, March 13 2006

Wilfried Sauerland, promoter of IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham, has made a public $1.2 million offer to the camp of newly crowned WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm, for an August 19 title unification showdown between Sturm and Abraham. "The boxing fans in Germany want to know who the true middleweight champion is," said Sauerland. "We offer this attractive fight to the fans because Arthur is ready.....we've always held the opinion that Abraham against Sturm only becomes a topic if both are world champions. Now Felix Sturm also has the title and we can have the fight. Both these exceptional boxers fighting against each other would be the high point of the year. I hope that that this fight comes."

Before that fight can happen, however, Abraham already has a title defense lined up for May 13 in Zwickau, Germany. He began training today in Berlin for that fight.

hehe, who were those guys saying that sturm is a ***** for not taking the taylor fight and that he can fight bums in germany for chump change? no no my friends ive told u that sturm can make more fighting in germany then ****ty deal of 750k to fight taylor in taylors backyard.

that report is from ********* and im sure sturm will take it, both are huge and the best euro middleweights right now, and the winner of those 2 should get the winky/taylor winner

I wonder why Sturm hasn't responded to the offer yet.lol. It would be a great fight since both fighters are out to prove they are the top middleweights.

He was offered 1.2 million USD. Is he going to get more fighting anyone else?

          i doubt it.

This would be a very exciting fight to watch. I hope Sturm is man enough to step up and take the offer. I dont think its the money that is the issue here.

Actually this offer of 1M Euro or 1.2M USD was made like a month ago(sturm won his belt on 11 march and this offer was made like coupla days after his win), anyways my point is why hasnt he replied yet? i mean its been more than 3 weeks now and we havent heard anything from sturm camp.? Mayb he doesnt wanna risk his belt or something?

I think Sturm should take this fight cos both of these fighters are paper champs, they got their belts cos taylor dumped those belts, and tbh we(boxing fans) All know that teh real champ is Jermain taylor(and soon to be winky) so whats teh Fuss

Just take this fight man, winner should get title shot at winky(once winky schools jermain)

                regards

in professional sport, and particularly professional boxing, "offers" in the press don't mean much and have very little truth behind them and furthermore, REPLYING isn't done via the press or on msn......there is a world of difference!

I think at this point Strum would beat Arthur. Arthur needs a few more tune up fights before he fights the bigger names.
