We know GGG would have the size and power advantage. We also know he has one gear and that's forward. Canelo is a much better boxer than people give him credit for.

Sure he was schooled by Mayweather, but he has boxed on par with everyone else he's ever fought. His defense IMO has improved the most since about 2 years back and we know he can also punch.

I'm not saying Canelo would win, but I think he could cause GGG some problems if GGG cannot handle Canelo's shots. I think Canelo at least early on touches him more than he touches him.

Very interesting fight but let's see Canelo vs Cotto first.
He'd definitely hit Golovkin quite a bit, and he wouldn't need to hurt him, just sting him enough to keep him cautious. There's no danger Alvarez stops Golovkin, but that's not necessary for Alvarez to win.

I don't write him off in this fight, and I think it happens if he gets past Cotto.

I do think GGG wins, however, a few years back someone posted the 2 sparring on YouTube and stated that it was pretty competitive. Of course sparring kind if negates the advantage of having more power for ggg.

But u could also make the case that canelo has probably improved slightly more since then due to his young age, we forget how young this kid still is, cottos and Mayweather didn't have nearly the same resume at 23.

So perhaps is Bradley isn't too far off, he's definitely privy to more inside type info than us.

When I hear Canelo saying that 'GGG's pretty good - it took me a coupla rounds to figure out his style' after they spar I'll be more impressed.

No seriously, Canelo has grown somewhat as a fighter and is now physically pretty mature, Golovkin beats the snot outta him by round 7.

By the way, I think someone posted this a while ago but yeah...Bradley makes some decent points but then mixes it up with a load of ****... GGG has an extensive amateur background and he's certainly not lacking in skills...and in terms of speed, Canelo isn't exactly SRR either.

And which truly big punchers has Canelo fought comparable to GGG to say he can take the power?

I think Canelo can give a good fight, he's a tough kid...but GGG would and should be heavily favoured IMO.
Most people on NSB think that GGG should be fighting at 154, and everyone pretty much think canelo should be fighting @ 160, so i can see the size difference thing tim is speaking about.

The only time i read about 154 is if he were to fight Mayweather, otherwise he's a perfect sized middleweight. Canelo on the other hand is too short for midleweight and too big for 154.

When Canelo fights a man who wants to stay standing they do! This kid is not a power puncher when he faces good fighters. Trout, Lara and old Mosley went the distance. He caught Floyd a few times and it didn't shake him.
The kid has a thick body and his motion and over all demeanor makes him look like a power guy but he isn't. His tko were against guys he was supposed to stop. He'd rather try and box clean like an amateur would than fight straight up.
Here's the bottom line he better have something on his shots if he fights GGG because if he can't get respect right away he'll be gone like the others.
I can't see Cotto in with GGG because a couple of hard shots to the head will put Cotto right back where he was a few years ago and that won't be good for him.

There's been so few real good punchers through the years now that people forget what a puncher brings to the ring.............instant respect!

He's not 154 pounder he is a Middleweight! Years ago the second most prestigious title to hold in boxing was Middleweight Champ.
It's thin now but the Champ is pretty damn good. I want to see what he does when he gets rocked, to me that's when we see if he can handle adversity.

              Ray.

I like Canelo but don't see it being close. GGG is long and covers distance smoothly, even if he isn't "fast." Canelo won't keep him away and loses.

Golovkin knocks Canelo, Mayweather and Bradley out in the same night, probably inside 10 rounds.

Well you need to be on more often, because alot of people say he is a small middleweight to begin with...probably because they want to say floyd is ducking GGG...i agree with you DOE. that Ggg is a natural MW...
