Roman Greenberg Ready To Step Up!!

Unbeaten heavyweight Roman Greenberg will fight in his first twelve rounder on Saturday against journeyman Alex Vassilev in the plush surroundings of the Salle de l'Etoile, Monte Carlo. Spoon-fed opponents like Vassilev, 16-14 and a loser of six of his last seven, have helped Greenburg compile a 21-0 record. Greenburg's handlers, however, are now talking about stepping up the competition. Sam Peter, Shannon Briggs and Danny Williams have all been named as possible opponents later this year. "I have been asking to be stepped up to championship level for a while now," says Greenburg, "and I am really looking forward to going from prospect to contender."

Greenberg is still very green, if he steps up to a top 5-10 guy he will get beat. His power is limited but he has good ring skills. His ability to hit from various angles is nice to watch and he will put together nice combos. It's still a big question mark on his ability to take a good punch. He has the talent to make a splash in the HW division and him being ***ish should help him get nice fat tv contracts.

I almost went to Miami to watch him fight Troy Beetes just to get a close look at the guy, but my plans fell through. But one of South Florida friends caught the show and he said Roman looked good but troy just laid down in the fight.

I would want to watch some of his fights if you have any to put up too. I would like to see him fight Shannon Briggs, because at least one of the guys is getting WAAAAAAAYYYYYY more press than they deserve and that fight would really be a career killer for the loser.

He is way over rated in my opinion. I've met him a couple of times and he's a nice enough guy, but he's too small to be in the heavies. He's got next to no power, and after every fight people seem to be saying that it was a poor performance by him. Well, if you have six poor performance's in a row that not an off night - you're just not that good. I think he could make more noise down at cruiser, but he'll get beat as soon as he steps in with Peter, Williams etc

He has fairly fast hands at times for a HW. But, uhh, that's about it.

He should really be fighting at Cruiserweight. He has decent skills but is a very small heavyweight.
