I keep listening about folks reference to Lemieux's fight against Rubio. First, Lemieux turned professional at 18 (with practically no amateur background) and faced Rubio at 22. Back then, he relied solely on his power to take care of business in early rounds with a conditioning, life style and nutrition that were highly deficient. If you remember the first 6 rounds of the Rubio's fight, it was all Lemieux... Rubio swallowed up the shots... and Lemieux repeated Foreman's ill advised game plan against Ali. He got exhausted and Rubio took advantage of it. Lemieux is now a different animal... highly conditioned to be explosive throughout 12 rounds. In fact, we saw in the Rosado fight that Lemieux was still very active and landing hard shots in the 10th round when the fight was stopped. Finally, bear in mind that Lemieux trains at the GYM gym with Marc Ramsay and constantly spars 12 rounders with the likes of Jean Pascal, Artur Beterbiev (who beat Kovalev twice in the amateur ranks and just demolished Tavoris Cloud in 2 rounds), Alvarez, etc... ALL light heavyweights ex-champion (Pascal) or respected contenders... In other words, Lemieux spars with guys that are 15-20 lbs heavier than himself and cannot put them down... but still goes 12 rounds with them... So, he is used to spar with guys 12 rounds when he is not having his way with them. With some more polishing in defense (especially against left uppercuts), GGG will have his hands full with the pretty beast from Canada..
He just beat Gabriel Rosado dude. He had been beaten 8 times prior. And many people mention both the Rubio fight and Alcine fight. Fans always that next great white hype, but you need to choose better. I don't remember Charlo getting this much praise by fans and press for beating Rosado even easier than Lemiux did.

Probably because most of the people who watched the Charlo-Rosado fight fell asleep before it was over and forgot it ever happened.

Are you referring to Khytrov who struggled badly against the talentless Chris Chatman for 2 rounds until he knocked him out in the 3rd? This is the guy who is going to have his way with Lemieux? No question that Lemieux needs to be more creative offensively and not rely so much on his power... but the only one who can beat Lemieux in the middleweight division is GGG... and GGG is no Khytrov... I agree with you, though, that Lemieux would learn more with a Roach or a Virgil Hunter as his trainer... and you are also correct in saying that Pascal fights like a wild amateur - you said imbecile - in some of his fight... his pretended imitation of Roy Jones is indeed idiotic...

I don't think Khytrov has his way with Lemieux, I consider them both to be very close in their development and abilities. I do think Khytrov is more durable and would hurt David before David hurts him. Great fire fight either way.
