Comments Thread For: Trout: I'm The Same Fighter Who Beat Miguel Cotto

2013 was not the easiest year in the ring for Austin Trout. After losing a unanimous decision to Saúl 'Canelo' Álvarez in April, he was dominated by Cuba's Erislandy Lara in December which included an eleventh round knockdown. After taking some months out of the ring, Trout returned on ESPN with a commanding performance against Australia's tough Daniel Dawson on August 22. Despite suffering two knockdowns in the third round of that bout, Trout looked impressive as he showed more aggression than in prior encounters and almost stopped Dawson in the later rounds.

Keep dreaming Austin "Migration of the Brown" Trout......You lost that fight by 3-4 points. Don't let those old senile wife beating alcoholic relic judges make you feel too strong.

IDK. Trout's gotten a lot of mileage over his single good win against a top shelf fighter, and, whilst I suspect he might have beaten aussie domestic Dawson anyway, the kid injured his ankle in the fifth so it's a bit early to be saying Austin got his mojo back.

I guess I'm saying that I won't be really sold on Trout until he gets another win against a top 10 fighter.

Honestly think cotto just slept on trout. Bad match up but cotto should have beaten him. Oh well, cotto is doing good for himself and hopefully trout gets back in the mix again.

He is the same fighter. He was just too big, strong and athletic for Cotto to deal with. Some fighters just have your number.

Skills pays the bills but there comes a point where physical advantages are too much to overcome.

Honestly some guys just have your number no matter how you look at it. I find it disrespectful to even mention Cotto didn't take Trout seriously. Dude was an undefeated world champ accustomed to winning in his opponents backyard.

I think Trout is going to find it difficult to get at that level again. His loses against Canelo and Lara, as well as the numerous knockdowns, must have really shattered his confidence.

rout is also the sme fighter who lost to Canelo and Lara

Trout is too soft to be a champion. Limited skills and a lack of heart plus no fans. That makes a journeyman fighter going nowhere like a Rosado or a Josesito.

I think trout his not quite the same fighter he was, he should never had been kd by the aussie dawson... so i think its safe to say that his chin is cracked, its not shattered doe.. but i think cotto can beat him if they fought again imo.
