Sanders and Williams were coming off of impressive upset KO victories. Sanders had KO'd the #1 contender across the board in brutal fashion. Vitali destroyed them. That's what champions do. So he at least "played the part" better than anyone else.

Byrd and Ruiz looked like jokes with the same level fighters, most of which were coming off of nothing performances and losses in their last major fight, and Byrd/Ruiz only kept their belts through luck, corrupt and/or incompetant judging- take your pick. So as unimpressive as Vitali's HW career was in the whole scheme of things, it was clearly the best of the post-Lewis era. And all you can do is be the best in your era. He begged for a rematch with Lennox and chased him for over a year. Not his fault Lennox retired without settling that score.

He won his title from an old out of shape Corrie Sanders who was coming off a year of inactivity.

He then beat Danny Williams, who's never been anything more than a fringe contender.

His ONE defense does not make a reign, nor does it make him the best of his 'era' when he made one defense.

The bottom line is that **** is still **** regardless of other **** you try and contrast it agaisnt.

He held a title very briefly, and made one very insignificant defense.

Regardless of what you think of him, he was still technically an ex-champion. This thread is just an attempt to piss people off.

            Champion of WHAT?

            Ducking mandatories?

Getting his face torn off by Lennox like the Terminator in his only real title fight?

            Buying belts?

            Handpicking opponents?

Klitchko was about as much of a Champion as Butterbean was with the IBA 4 round belt.

Most disgraceful "Title Reign" in Heavyweight Boxing History.
Runwithknives will hunt you down! he is klit's numero uno fan here in BS.

On top of everything Bozo No No said which were all dead accutate........

Vitali's reign is not about which belt he had or how long he had it for. It's about the way he acquired it, and the way he lost it.

He fought the real champion and lost........

Then thanks to his marketability he handpicked his opponent for the vacant title, handpicked his first defense, then ducked out of 3 fights and rretired when he couldn't hand pick his mnandatory. Remember when he would be too hurt to defend against Rahman, then petition to fight someone else?

Sylvester Stallone owns a WBC belt...But at least Rocky ACTED like a Champion.

funny how haters can't hide their true iden******...
                      prolly the same with huggers

Boxers don't always get to fight who they want to haters....

let's say VK did get what he wanted...
                      1. He would have had a rematch with Lewis
                      2. He would have fought Tyson

not much else is known about who he wanted to fight.

but Lewis decided to retire instead of keeping his promise to rematch... so what then?? just say 'na, I don't want to be the Champion' ?? NO, he took on who they decided to win the belt. is that his problem?
from there, he was to take on manditories, just like any other champion is forced to do within time limits.

the greats that people agree on like Ali, Frazier, etc weren't great because they decided who they fought.. they fought who they had to as champions.

if you hate him because you dislike his style, maybe because you don't like his nationality, or maybe because he makes you question your sexual preference, then fine! so be it, but don't hate an ex-champion (or ex-titleholder for that matter) because of which contenders he fought!
