What weight should I fight at for Golden Gloves

I had been out of boxing for a little bit but on spring break I sparred and felt good, having started exercising again 2.5 weeks before spring break. My old trainer invited me to do Golden Gloves this weekend in Ft. Walton.

I weigh about 148 right, get down to about 146 after a workout. I just started cutting down on food to make 141, and I plan to use a sauna a bit the day before the fight to help make weight.

I could just eat whatever and fight at 152 with some big boys.

    Input?

fight at a weight you can make comfortably where u dont have to kill urself

    what are amateur weights currently

aim for 141 if u want then if u dont make it oh well just fight at the one above it and at least ull have speed on ur side which seems more important than power in amateurs anyhow

Whe I was still amateur the weights went from 139 to 147 to 156. If you can make 139 you'd be better off.

nah for me I have to make 141 or 152, and the weigh in is Friday. I have only today as the last day to cut food to make weight, cuz I cannot cut food on Teu and Wed or I'd have no energy for the fight.

I gotta check my weight today after werkout and let yall know where I'm at.

Honestly it doesn't sound like you are in too great of fighting condition anyway so you'r probably be better off just coming in at whatever you come in at naturally.

Yeah I weighed 146 even after the sauna so I'm definitely going to havr to fight 152 lbs guys. I'll just have to be quick. I hadn't been dieting, just training, so I can't make my usual weight. At least now I can eat my ass off though and probably fight against guys who are struggling to make weight.

I'll fight at 141 next time.

              Erm good luck bro...

I havent entered a golden gloves before, but this stuff is the making of future champions right? It sounds really rushed in your preparation. You only just started boxing again and are going straight into the Golden Gloves?

Did I miss something? Isnt the Golden Gloves the elite tournament in the US or something?

I already fought once in the Golden Gloves. This is not a NATIONAL Golden Gloves tournament, it is for NORTH Florida. Last time I had 2 fights and fought a guy with 50, and was somewhat competitive.

This time I hope to get a fight with someone who is actualy in my class. That is how it's supposed to work. If they actually do it right this time, and there is more than one fighter available for me to fight, then I'll get a crack at a guy with less than 5 fights like myself, which would be GRRREAT.

                  (^_^)

Speed speed speed. I'm going to be moving a lot and not throwing very hard punches. I usually like to impose myself a bit but this weight isn't going to allow for that.
