Wladimir Klitschko would NEVER had reached his prime in a tougher era.

        No ****. A lot of IF's here.

I guess this is the latest "attempt" to bring Wlad down a peg or two.

When you dominate 90% of your fights, there is not much else but to let the mind create scenarios like this.

This reminds of that one movie where the guy travels back in time to kill off several people (obstacles) who are in his way of becoming U.S. president, in order to change the outcome of the future. This is essentially the OP's argument.

Remember, the only way to conclude that it's a "weak era" is to have a great fighter come along and dominate the hell out of the opposition for nearly a decade.

This "weak era" cannot be exposed by an "average fighter". It takes a great one to do it. However, Wlad's ability to own fighters one-sidedly by applying the same style over and over shows us that his prime size/skill combination is almost unbeatable, which should seep over to other era's. We do not even need to compare him to the absolute TOP guys like Ali, Lewis (which in my mind are his toughest mythical match-up's), but these B-listers who are considered great (I.E. Mike Tyson) but have their own fair share of flaws that have been exposed.

It's not like he has had to "adjust" many times (though he did just that against Pulev, throwing different punches when the usual ones weren't effective). What Wlad offers in the ring has never been truly beaten. Sure, he ran out steam and gassed out once. Sure he got caught and got KO'd. But nobody actually ever figured him out and outboxed him. That alone should make him one of the absolute top guys of ALL-TIMES.

That's not true at all. Plenty of strong eras have had one guy reigning supreme. in fact it's not even close to how your determine weak era.

Also, your excuses for Wlad's losses are embarrassing. You shouldn't even go there. You can make those kinds of excuses for everyone.

ive always liked and respected wlad and vitali as people. as boxers, i just find it hard to find entertainment value with their style. a very unprofessional heavyweight era hurt them legacy wise.

id like to see wlad take on bermane and wilder then hang it up.

enjoy fatherhood and hayden's sure to be mangled vagina. hopefully she had a c section.

so end your career with bermane and wilder, beat them and i think wlad will have a lot of begrudging respect.

It's laughable that people try to define ATG eras when back in Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Muhammad Ali eras there was arguably a smaller division of 'heavyweights' who didn't even meet the current criteria to actually be a heavyweight in this modern era.

Deep down what it all boils down to is nostalgia, people wont and will never let go and they do this by berating a current great of our era who at 38 looks MILES better than Ali, Louis, Holmes and Frazier had ever looked.
Longevity and the fact Wladimir is probably ten times smarter than any of those latter boxers mentioned is why he is better.

The divisions all across every weight class is more stacked now than it ever was, it's more competitive hence why what Wladimir is doing against more dangerous men who are heavier, stronger and possible faster than or equal to those guys back in the past who were around the weights of 175 - 205lbs 'heavyweights'.
It's hatred for the fact that the division is so cleanly dominated but what is more embarrassing is that Wladimir is probably one of the most likable boxers you can have but people will always hold their jealousy that their countrymen have never came anywhere close to dominating like Wladimir has.

The only one comparable to dominance over a long time-scale is Larry Holmes because he did fight the best each time and he beat them so convincingly, forget Joe Louis he fought constant bum after bum that might be harsh to say about them but when you're having fights once every week or fortnight you have to wonder the real professionalism of the division back then.

I've said it before and its definitely true, If you replaced Wladimir with Deontay Wilder with that very long HW champion reigning streak that is when people would start to give the champ some respect but unfortunately there are a lot of racists on here who don't like Wlad because of where he is from and possibly due to the fact he is even white.

They're not excuses, they're facts. Did he actually get outboxed, or outskilled. Can we say that Brewster or Corie Sanders really "had his number". Many greats had that one style that might have had their number, even if that guy with the style wasn't a great fighter himself.

We cannot really say this in Wlad's case, other then that he has a weak chin equivalent to Amir Khan, except he improved his style to accommodate his chin while still winning effectively, whereas Khan is still getting knocked around by nobodies.
