That's pretty inaccurate to say he wasn't doing a damn thing. If you saw his shows he was very active and visible. Joining in on broadcasts, post-fight interviews, press conferences, he was unquestionably the spokesman for the company. and IIRC he was the one who led the appeal to reverse the decision on Mendez-Barthelemy I.
He may not have been in the nitty gritty financial aspect of the business, but he definitely seemed to be functioning as a promoter in the literal sense.
