Comments Thread For: Hatton: Khan Picking The Right Foes To Get Mayweather

Amir Khan has an important assignment coming up on December 13th, when he collides with Devon Alexander in a collision of former champions at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Khan made his welterweight debut in May, winning a wide twelve round decision over former 147-pound champion Luis Collazo. Alexander is a former champion at 140 and 147-pounds.

Khan's countryman, former two-division champion Ricky Hatton, says Amir is picking the right opponents if he intends to secure a May fight with WBC/WBA champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. - who knocked out Hatton in ten rounds in 2007.

Great job by avoiding Porter & Thurman. Fight weaker punchers is the way to go.

He should have fought Brook. Khan with a title earns a Mayweather payday.
I think he knows Kell Brook is all wrong for him style wise so he chose the easier fight against Alexander.

Is it just me or does Hatton gives more respect to Khan than Pacquaio?

I think what Hatton should have said is he is doing just enough to get Floyd. I'd love to see that fight after Pac. Khan has proved himself and I understand why he wants to fight Floyd but he needs to take his own career path focusing more on cleaning out the division. Not saying he can do it but he has the skills to do it

The trouble with this match up is that Alexander never puts on fan friendly fights. He's a boring pitter-patter, hit and run merchant who punctuates every slight contact with a loud grunt as if he just scored a home run. It would be easy to imagine no-one looking good in this fight.

You people would've loved for Khan to fight Porter, so you can have a built in excuse "oh he was coming off of a loss doe". He certainly is NOT the future.

Thurman, I mean why would Khan in a lucrative position that he is in fight him? Even if he loses to Alexander he'll get one tune up and fight Brook for a sell out crowd and a belt.

This bout is great for Khan because he is going back and erasing the "duck" stain on his career by fighting Alexander and will be getting custody rights for Maidana for the second time. (Kotelnik).

Sounds like he's doing exactly what mayweather does. Fight names not strong opposition...

Mayweather should hail khan for this..
