Every long journey starts with small steps, and Ortiz has a long trek in front of him to even sniff the top end in boxing again.

He should fight a few off TV 8 rounders at this point, after he wins 2 or 3 of those then I want to see what he looks like again. I question his mental toughness but that sort of thing could build a certain level of toughness up. It would probably fail him in the end but at least it would get him to a point where he would need it again.

Well he was WBC Champion after beating an undefeated Berto who many people rated quite highly at the time.

I don't think anybody seriously believed he was the best 147 pounder at all. He was once a top 140 pounder, but that was a while back.

I actually met Vic a few months ago at a restaurant bar. I talked to him for a few minutes, he seemed like a nice guy. He said he has developed some new boxing skills, new tricks. He said people are going to call him Tricktor Ortiz.
