Comments Thread For: Tomasz Adamek Admits Time in Boxing is Now Over

Former two division world champion Tomasz Adamek (49-4, 29 KOs) admits his time in the sport is over. A few weeks ago he suffered a unanimous decision loss to young heavyweight countryman Artur Szpilka (17-1, 12 KO). It was Adamek's second consecutive loss. At 38-years-old, the former light heavyweight and cruiserweight champion sees no reason to go any further with his pro career.

I take it this means he'll be fighting in April or May.

True warrior and its good to see him hang it up. He probably could and should of retired after losing to Vitali. That said he is a top 50 HW of all time and has had a great career. Had the Klitschko's not been around in this era, Adamek probably had the goods to run the division for years. Even as a small HW.

Hopefully Adamek can get out now with his rep and his brains. I'd hate to see him getting beat up by guys he would have outclassed 5 years ago.

It was sad seeing Adamek decay in front of us. I don't think he ever really recovered from the Vitali and Walker fights. Has some good wins in his career with the Ulrich and Banks wins sticking in my mind.
