Comments Thread For: Photos: Juan Francisco Estrada, Nava, Marquez Workouts

The open workout was held for Saturday's doubleheader at the CUM Center in Hermosillo, Mexico. In the main event, WBA/WBO flyweight world champion Juan Francisco Estrada (30-2, 22KOs), considered to be one of the best fighters in the lower weight divisions, will face Filipino contender Joebert Alvarez (14-0-1, 6KOs). WBC/WBA super bantamweight champion Jackie Nava (30-4-3, 13KOs) returns to the ring as the co-main event, against undefeated challenger Sayda Mosquera (7-0-1, 5KOs). Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions is staging the show.

I read that if Juan Francisco Estrada gets past Alvarez, his next fight will either be staged in Sonora, Mexico or he will return to Macau for the 3rd time in February or March.

Another thing I read in the same article was that depending on how well this fight goes, JFE and his team are planning on fighting 4 times next year, which is awesome! JFE shouldn't look past Alvarez though, all fighters are dangerous and Alvarez is a southpaw, a stance that has given JFE trouble several times against past opponents. However, I'm confident that he will adjust in the mid to late rounds and get a stoppage.

      Great news!

Hopefully by the end of 2015 we get to see Gonzalez/Estrada 2.

Estrada wins the rematch and sets up an epic trilogy

Let's hope he fights 4 times. He's building a great resume at such a young age.

If Alvarez lives up to his nickname, "Little Pacman", then Estrada definitely shouldn't overlook him.

I would love to see El Gallo in with Edgar Sosa or Adrian Hernandez next year, .

I really believe Estrada would beat Gonzalez in a rematch. Fighting at a comfortable weight with tons of experience at an elite level now will surely provide him with enough weaponry to overcome Gonzalez. Tough and gruelling fight but I think Gonzalez is hitting his cap in regards to weight classes. According to Chocolatito and his own team, they aren't happy with how slow and vulnerable he has been looking lately. Estrada on the other hand just keeps on improving.

Yeah he has a lot of good names as is. Sanchez Jr. x2, Roman Gonzalez, Brian Viloria, Mepranum, Segura, Melindo, and Diale. What I like most about him is the fact that he grows damn near every fight. He has improved dramatically over the course of 3 years.

I only saw one fight of Alvarez and although he has great movement and speed, his power isn't there. I think this fight will resemble JFE vs Milan Melindo, except a bit more awkward due to "Little Pacman's" southpaw stance.

JFE vs Edgar Sosa would be insane, punches in bunches and counterpunching each other to death. I don't see Adrian Hernandez giving him too much trouble but who knows? I could be wrong.

I really want Nietes to move up so they could fight each other. That fight was being built up by ALA promotions but they postponed it for now so Nietes could establish a new and much longer record in his country, surpassing that of El Flash Elorde.

I think Moi Fuentes is now at 112, Casimero, Ioka and a rematch with Brian Viloria all sound interesting as well. Damn, I really hope JFE could hold his belts for a few more years, the 112 lbs division is stacked with elite fighters.

Have you watched the fight? JFE clearly won the first 4 rounds. The rest were very close. It was an excellent and close fight in my opinion where both fighters hurt each other many times in their exchanges. Roman won, but he certainly didn't own Estrada. Keep in mind this was Estrada's first trip to 108 and first time fighting an elite fighter. Over all he surpassed expectations and the loss lead him to HBO and Macau, where he won his 2 straps nearly 2 years ago.
