  • Comments Thread For: Canelo Has No Intention of Avoiding Golovkin Clash

Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs) is not going to avoid a fight with WBA/IBO/WBC-interim middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs).

There are ongoing talks for Canelo to challenge WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto on May 2nd.

Golovkin is the mandatory challenger to Cotto's title. The WBC has already ruled that the Canelo-Cotto winner will have to face Golovkin, who defends his belts against Martin Murray in February.

If Canelo beats Cotto I believe he would fight GGG.

I don't think Roach would let Cotto fight him though.

See how easy that is folks. I like Cotto he's one of my favorites but that doesn't blind me. Even though he hasn't had a chance to defend his newly acquired hardware. I just don't believe Roach or Cotto would want that fight at this stage in his career.

I wish all the groupies on NSB could be the same. Just because you like or love a fighter doesn't mean you have to make yourself look like a blind fool on NSB.

Didn't Alvarez say he wanted to stay at JMW?

Irrespective of what SA says, Oscar will be in no rush to put Canelo in with Golovkin.

I doubt this. If that was the case the minute cotto said 75% ODH would have started working on the GGG fight.

And that's why I'll root for him against Cotto. The ginger is the only chance Golovkin has to take the lineal title before he moves on, and the only chance Golovkin has at a true mega fight anytime soon.
