Plenty of big fights left for Ortiz if he can manage to build himself back up.

Ortiz - Khan would be good as would Ortiz - Rios probably quite a few more.

He got hurt, took a knee, and quit against Collazo. How is that not showing his lack of heart again?

People talk like Collazo flattened him when he just hurt him and Ortiz decided he didn't want any.

Even sparring is hard but to actually step into the ring to fight monsters such as Marcos Maidana and co and then to have nerds on the internet claim you have no heart?

Just try and imagine it, no headgear, no sparring ''we'll take it easy'' crap, no 3 or 4 rounds, no 16oz gloves, your standing face to face with a prime Marcos Maidana the tattooed fearsome looking motherfucker who's looking to take your fucking head off, literally trying to knock you the fuck out, how much heart does it take to even fight him, let alone go to war with him like he did for 4 or 5 rounds or whatever it was?

Must be ridiculous to experience that from Ortiz's point of view IMO.

Just saying. Yeah he might not have the extraordinary heart some other fighters do, but he's showed a whole lot of heart.
I would have to agree and disagree. While Ortiz has showed a lack of heart but also a great deal of heart at other times in his career. During the fight with Berto they both showed an abundant amount of heart, both being dropped multiple times by big shots. Sadly he showed a lack of heart in Maidana and Lopez. He showed frustration during the Mayweather fight, which could be translated as not having the correct mindset for this stage of the sport.

Though many may speak from a viewers standpoint, he has become a disappointment and has shown the lack of desire to be able to compete at the high levels. He has shown the capability to do wonders in the ring but it often leads to disappointing outcomes.

I do disagree saying it Maidana was a such a frightening opponent he just couldn't handle a beating which is what this sport is revolved around... either give a beating or take a beating... Ortiz has shown a lack of focus and leaving frustration to quiting.

Watching Lopez, he was often showing frustration trying to Knock out his opponent and opening his mouth. This, which in boxing is something that can often lead to a broken jaw and did so that night. Disappointing because Ortiz was showing a great performance.

Sadly I don't believe he had the brains or heart to compete at the level he hopes and now a questionable chin. If he wear to somehow change or work on his focus and drive I believe he could go far once again. Unfortunately I see a man that is just to self absorbed he believes he is already too good for the sport.

Yup. Imo, the problem is in his head. I don't think he has as much real love for the sport as some of his competition. I think this kid made some dough, spent it and is now realizing that it'll be really hard to find a better paying gig. Will that be sufficient motivation? If he's grown up a little bit, maybe. I wish him luck.
