Comments Thread For: Cotto Begins Trip on 12/7 To Start Training With Roach

WBC middleweight champion Miguel Angel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) will leave Puerto Rico on December 7th and heads to Los Angeles, California, to officially start training with his coach Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym. Cotto will be accompanied by close friend and Miguel Cotto Promotions CEO Bryan Perez.

Cotto, inactive since a June TKO of Sergio Martinez, was going to return to action on a December date but made a decision to postpone his next ring appearance to 2015. There are now ongoing discussions for Cotto to face Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs) on May 2nd.

Hopefully it's Canelo which I think it will be.

First of all, forget GGG. Cotto will never fight him. If Mayweather makes an offer I think Cotto take his chances there for the money. 2nd big option, Canelo.

I think Mayweather Cotto might look like a different fight, especially at MW.

But then again Floyd is on the Ariza Shakes and Memo Pellets so

Fight the p4p king or settle for pesos. Be real, this match up takes precedence over a GGG or Canelo clash if you're Cotto. Besides those guys aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

You have to feel good about Migs chances this time around.. he's catching Floyd on his last legs. Of course this is all just speculation until Oscar or Bob can verify whether or not a Canelo fight has been signed.

If the oppertunity to fight Floyd again gets offered, that's the fight you have to take. Beating Floyd will mean more than beating Canelo.
