Part three of this ongoing series examines the champions and the recognized best in the bantamweight, super bantamweight, featherweight and super bantamweight divisions.

Three of the four have suffered through longtime vacancies at the top. The one division that crowns a king – super bantamweight – remains a strangehold at the top and a logjam among its leading contenders, all of whom are more bark than bite when it comes to meeting each other in the ring.

the article is factually incorrect..pac never won a title at featherweight 126.. the two fights of any significane at 126 he had was with barrera who did not have a title at the time and marquez who was the WBA and IBf champ at 126 and we all know that fight was ruled a draw..

Your post is factually incorrect, and sadly missing the point of this series. Alphabet belts needn't apply in championship lineage.

Pacquiao beat Barrera, who was the lineal champ at the time of their fight based on his win over Naseem Hamed, who....

Ah, just read this - or at least skip to the featherweight section to see how far featherweight championship lineage extended prior to Pacquiao leaving the division: http://www.boxingscene.com/crowning-...art-iii--18518

It is also incorrect to assert that being signed with Al Haymon guarantees easy fights and big paydays. Haymon has well over 100 fighters in his stable. How many of them actually fought in 2014, let alone on a network that provided a big payday? The fact is that only a small percentage of Haymons fighters get the big money and showcase fights, while the vast majority languish awaiting opportunities that may never come. Many writers perpetuate the fantasy that all Haymons fighters are on the gravy train but the facts show otherwise; plus how much longer is Showtime going to allow Haymon to shred their reputation in the sport? The party is coming to an end sooner than later.
