Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. Eyes Froch, Hopkins or Dirrell on 2/28 or 3/7

Former world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-1-1, 32KOs) is hoping to return on February 28th or March 7th against one of three likely opponents.

The boxer's number one choice is IBF/WBA 'regular' champion Carl Froch, but now the Mexican star is mentioning WBC champion Anthony Dirrell and even a potential fight at 168-pounds with Bernard Hopkins.

Hopkins losing to Chavez Jr. would almost be too much to bear. I hope Julio gets the Froch fight.

He eyes those guys and fights Don Mouton.

Seriously, how can anyone consider Chavez to be an elite level fighter? In his prime he was getting by due to a 20-30lb weight advantage against MW's. Now he's been inactive for over 9 months, been without a real trainer for a couple of years, and had two fights in over two years. Now he's moved up in weight losing his size advantage and has likely regressed in his skills, I just don't see Chavez having much more of a career when he does finally comeback. And TR's not going to allow him out of that contract until Oct. 2015.

Glad he got away from arums dirty azs. Its time for jr to start over and take it serious.from the beginning arum was using this guy for his last name fame. Jr fell into the plan and didnt make it better for himself believing his own fight hype. Get new respected trainers and get back at it.

His lawyers told JCC Jnr is free of his contract. Would be very surprised if that was the end of it

Do you just like to make every discussion a bash bob arum, Freddie roach or manny pacquiao thread. Hey now that he is with al haymon and not greedy bob maybe he will get a big purse offer and take it..... Oh wait never mind that worked so well for kid chocolate.

It did work out well for Kid Chocolate. He got paid a half-million dollars not to get beat by Korobov.

Did you read the article? Clearly not.

Until he does clear Arum, this is all hot air.
