ESPN reported on Wednesday that discussions are underway for a potential clash between undefeated WBA/IBF/WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (26-0-1, 23KOs) and former champion Jean Pascal (29-2-1, 17KOs). The potential fight may not be possible until the second half of 2015 because of mandatory obligations that Kovalev may have to fulfill.

Dunno about stealing. Stevenson had the opportunity to fight Hopkins and Pascal but blew both deals, no intervention required on Kovalev's part.

I think Stevenson is comfortable just sitting on the sidelines fighting Haymon TBAs until it's time to cash out (by losing to Kovalev).

Pascal never mentions Kovalev so I don't think he really wants it. It's all tactics for negotiations imo.

Pascal will lose bad. I do respect him for wanting this fight, but if he wants to be champ again he has to go through either Kov or Stevenson, and Stevenson clearly isn't willing to fight him. Kovalev is the last resort.
