Algieri is a world class fighter, just not an A+ world class fighter. For some reason the perspective in boxing has shifted the wrong way. Algieri, like Ricky Hatton, lost to one of the greatest fighters of any generation. Very few fighters make the A+ level. Gotti was a great fighter but was never an A+ fighter, evidenced by the outcome of his fights with Oscar and PBF (who both beat Gotti worse than Pac beat Algeri). Algeri isn't an easy out for most fighters including Thurman and Garcia. PBF would school him with no danger but Jesse Vargas would have some problems.

I think Algieri is definitely "fringe" world class - after all the only boxers who can beat Provo are world class guys lke El Maestro and Bradley, and those fights were just as close as ALgieri's fght with him.

Algieri can give a lot of boxers a good fight just not Pac. His conditioning is elite level, his will power is remarkable--there is no quit in the guy. He puts Victor Ortiz to shame.

I agree he has to leave his MMA career behind get a really good boxing trainer and a punch-strengthening coach. His above average boxing skill and movement without punching power makes him one dimensional. I liked their slogan Champion Lifestyle, it's inspirational stuff. I'm looking forward to see how he grows and the changes he'll make.

Algieri is Garbage. He was never anywhere on no "fringe". Dude looks ******ed trying to box. Algieri is a boxing imposter. No training can save this kid. The worst thing about him is how delusional and arrogant he is, and his corner is comic relief. I don't see any talent in Algieri. Ruslan was robbed in their fight. Pac vs Algieri was a garbage fight period and should have never happened. Stop trying to twist it to make Pac's win look good. It was good for casual fans, but no one on this site should pretend it was anything other than a garbage fight and a garbage win.

He did look frustrated and neutralized against Pacquaio but this is the same guy who outboxed "most feared" (at the time, after seriously hurting Bradley and Alvarado) Provodnikov with 1 eye.

He just had nothing to answer Pacquaio's speed with and rushed to the big show wayyy too fast due to the the division drying up.

Frustrated? He looked **** scared. It suddenly got real and he didn't want to be there. He looked ridiculous trying to box, couldn't understand all this talk about his 'great' footwork - I thought he looked horrible in there. He was afraid, man, no two ways about it. I think he was exposed, bigtime. Decent win against Provodnikov, sure, but look at his boxing, he's all square and jerky, not the 'slick' and speedy 'master boxer' he proclaimed himself to be.

The guy was made to look like an idiot. Freddie Roach called it right, before and after the fight.

I believe he can go on and beat some decent fighters, but all this talk of world class is ridiculous.

He didn't hit Pacquiao with a single punch that seemed to have any effect whatsoever. He is too tall and skinny. Hes a health freak, so he should have no problem putting on about 10 lbs of pure muscle and trying to contend as a middleweight. Maybe he wouldn't get knocked down 6 times in a fight."peeleft:

Complaining

Did anyone else notice how he kept complaining like a little girl the entire fight? he was mad because he kept getting warned for the low blows, and the any minor little thing pac did he would complain. He would turn his back while pacquiao was punching and get hit in the side of the head and turn to the ref and cry about it. He really did get emarrased and the most embarrassing part was his actions and the actions of time lane. Time Lane to Algieri after getting knocked down 2 times in the 9th round: "are you ready for round 2 chris? Alright now im letting you out of the cage" lol what a joke these guys really are amateur hour, although Chris is a decent fighter

Comparing Chris Algieri to a proven champion like Hatton is absolutely ridiculous. Hell, he's not even worthy of being compared to Arturo Gatti.
