Periban was up and ready to fight by the count of 8... doesn't that mean he should be allowed to continue?

Im sure Foster knows the rules, I just think he panics. Obviously it easy to make decisions from my sofa but he gets paid to do this.

What you also have to think is if the BBBC are happy with his performances then why should a ref change what they are doing?
Have you considered he might not like how he is advised to apply the rules?

I thought Degale was the only decent fight last night and provided the only value on the card,bar the Quigg fight I suppose(wasnt one I had an interest in or watched yet I heard his opponent didnt lol over as expected).

DeGale hit Periban with some huge shots and was finding the target with relative ease,he would have stopped him within another two rounds regardless IMO if not straight after the stoppage ! Was a little disappointed the Brit was not able to get a few more rounds in and show how he reacts to pressure.lets not start overhyping Periban's skills though saying he could have dusted himself and won,DeGale was battering him from pillar to post.

Periban was a tough competitor,a solid scalp.what DeGale did to him was a message to the division he is on the cusp of world level.i understand now why Froch is not so eager to face him.

Ok now we can talk about this sensibly.
I don't know but I suspect that % of fighters who come back after heavy knockdowns (where some may have stopped the fight) is very small. They stay in our minds because they are unique.

There's plenty of examples. I remember Tim Bradley being dropped like a sack of potatoes against Nate Campbell I think. Hard knockdown.

Came up and won. If Foster had reffed, he would have stopped it then and there.

It's annoying, but it's a concious choice by the BBBofC due to the tragic incidents that's happened in Britain over the years with Watson, Mclellan, Ali etc all ended with tragic brain damage or other things and in some cases, death.

We also have to remember it's a sport and no one wants to see someone getting seriously hurt if the fight could have been stopped a couple of punches earlier.
