Comments Thread For: Roach: For Right Fight, Pacquiao Could Make 135-Pounds

Macau, China - WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao is capable of squeezing down to the lightweight limit of 135-pounds, according to the boxer's trainer Freddie Roach.

Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38KOs) returns on Saturday night against Chris Algieri, the WBO's champion at 140-pounds. The fight will take place at a catch-weight of 144-pounds. If all goes well, Pacquiao is likely going down to junior welterweight.

If the right opportunity comes along, Roach says Pacquiao can make 135-pounds. He expects Pacquiao to weigh 142-pounds for the fight with Algieri.

Then there's no excuse to not fight Crawford or Garcia at 135, right? Yet, for some reason I don't think that will happen. I wonder why.

Runnig away from thurman. The reason he wants to move down is because all his options are in the lower weights. Terrence crawford and mikey garcia. Any name other than floyd is not relevant. His going to continue fighting in china. He should be kicking danny garcia and broners ass.

Thank you. WHy anyone thinks he would go down to 135 is just crazy. It'll be a catchweight or 140 for a decent champ at 135 (Crawford) and an inactive, unproven guy anywhere near that weight (Garcia).

pleaze. Pac has been at ww for five years now. Where is duckweather. Roach has already said they would stay at ww for a floyd fight.

Garcia has already said that he is ready to move to 147. Anything above 135 is an advantage to all these big names who are naturally bigger men than pac. Let's not twist it around. Pac is just a blown up featherweight.
