  • Comments Thread For: Jermain Taylor Facing Two Felonies From Shooting Case

The alleged shooting case involving middleweight titleholder Jermain Taylor is being moved from district court to circuit court, which led to the filing of formal charges Wednesday afternoon.

Taylor is facing a pair of felonies: 1st-degree battery and 1st-degree *********ic threatening, according to Arkansas Online. The case stems from an August incident in which Taylor allegedly shot his cousin more than once, injuring him; he’s also accused of threatening another man. [Click Here To Read More]

Now he'll be fighting to pay legal fees - doubt they'll drop everything but...maybe plea bargain down to a long-long probation - whatever happened to the whole hooker thing a couple years ago??

If Taylor had a license then the cases will be dropped. His lawyer can argue that his cousin came on his property threatening him and that in itself is just cause. Maybe he gets convicted but probably no jail time.

Has nothing to do with a "license". He may have blew his self defense explanation when he ran back out shooting.

If 2 guys break into your house and corner you and you have to defend yourself that's one thing... If you run into your house to retreive a weapon then go after them that's an entirely different thing.

These cases do not revolve around the firearm or taser or knife or whatever, they revolve around how necessary the force used was. This sounds pretty excessive.

The legal system is not perfect. Even if Taylor had a very good reason and was being threatened, he could get locked up for years just for the semantics (coming back outside).

The case could be tied up in court for a while.
Am sure he will be free to fight.
If his cousin and or cousins friend have a criminal background then it will help JT case. Worse case scenarion some sort of plea bargain, 1 year of which he serves 3-6 months.

                  No worries JT fans.

What was his bail in this case? He needs to get his team to set up a huge fight in Europe, win or lose, get a big cheque, and never return. Who the **** wants to get locked up for years.
