Sauerland Bros, from what I've been able to gather, are one of the premier promoters in Germany. Second-generation promotional company, with a strong reputation in their market.

Not sure about an America-based fighter, but the Sauerland's are moving into Britain (signing George Groves, working with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Sport).

For the sake of boxing they are one of the worst promoters in the sport. Think of them as the Al Haymon of Europe.

They seem alright until their fighters who walk away or complain while under contract complain of 'slave conditions'.. lol.

Steve Cunningham was with them IIRC. They seem fairly large in Germany. Interesting to see Nisse and Kalle in charge of things.

Sauerland is literally the only really big continental European promoter. For most euro fighters, signing with Sauerland is like winning the lottery. They do a really good job building up their fighters and putting big shows together.

Al Haymon is not really a good comparison because

1) Sauerland's main market doesn't overlap with that of other major promoters. In continental Europe they have no great rivals.

2) Haymon is basically unwilling to work with any other promoter unless he absolutely has to (e.g. Loma vs Russell jr.). As far as I know, Sauerland has no problem working with the British guys, K2, American promoters etc.

Hearn is also a big player on the European market and his taking shares. If he expands he could make an impact internationally.

Saurland are good enough, but as much as it can be a blessing it can be a curse too, you can waste some good years fighting nobodies.

With whom?

The only British based promoter I can think of with anyone interest outside of British fighters is Hatton who's got Rabchenko. Feigenbutz has been added to the Cleverly-Bellew card but I think that has more to do with Groves being on it.

Deion Jumah was another British fighter who was with Sauerland but he hasn't been active in a while. David Price is another... they'll need to sign a few more British boxers if they want to be competitive over here but I very much doubt that'll ever happen.

I like them they're good promoters, they put on good fights from time to time and they're helping make boxing bigger in Europe.

I think Mick seems alright but he never seems to better himself or make the most of what he's got. The chap has been on the BBC, ITV4, SKY and now Channel 5.
