Mayweather-Alvarez generated over $20m at the live gate. Mayweather-Maidana 1 generated over $14m at the live gate. Mayweather-Maidana 2 generated over $14m at the live gate.

Even if you put 100,000 people into Cowboys Stadium, that's still over $140 per seat.

The comment about considering Cowboys stadium tells me right off the bat that Arum's comments are total bulls..t! If there is going to be a fight, Mayweather will be dictating the terms, not Arum, and Mayweather is not fighting anywhere except the MGM Grand.

The comment about how Pac has to win first is a dead giveaway that Arum is still using Mayweather's name to promote Pacquaio's fight. Arum won't have a word to say about a Mayweather/Pacquaio fight after the Algieri fight.....at least not until Pacquaio's next fight is signed.

If some venue offered up a massive site fee (like the offer that Barclays Center put forward that had Floyd listening), a venue beside the MGM Grand could be considered; it'll have to be a heck of an offer though.

Floyd Mayweather Jr "runs Vegas" as it is, but two weeks to a Mayweather event, the MGM Grand really pulls out all the stops for him. On top of that, he pulls in massive gates, with no in-state income tax to worry about.

I'm at a point where I like Floyd, but I don't like him. It's kind of half and half with me, but If this fight is ever made, it is because Arum gave in to the demands. I forgot demand number 9. Demand number 9 is that Pacquiao must Join Mayweather Promotions. LOL. And when he says that, after all other demands are met, thats how you know Mayweather is avoiding Pacquiao or he is giving him the same treatment that Rocky Marciano gave Joe Louis.

After Pacquiao heard the $40m offer for the fight, and did nothing but say "give me 50/50" and hang up, it became clear to Mayweather that Pacquiao didn't want the fight either.

The fact that Arum/Pacquiao had the gall to keep on talking as if they wanted the fight, when their every action showed otherwise meant that Floyd Mayweather Jr no longer had to be serious when folks bring up the Pacquiao name, especially after losing the first Bradley fight, getting KTFO by JMM, and watch his value as a PPV and live gate attraction completely collapse.

Why keep approaching the conversation as if Arum/Pacquiao actually wanted the fight?

If they're gonna keep up with the "song and dance", Floyd added a little two-step too; sign with his promotional company, that way people won't have to wait for new stadiums to be built or look out for cuts that need six months to properly close up.

I think people fail to consider how Arum will perceive all of this.

For Pacquiao, it is a lucrative pay day: $40 million, and 35% of the revenue.

For Bob Arum it is an issue. As things stand, I'm guessing the money would go to Top Rank and then he would pay Pacquiao from the money. If Pacquiao is to be paid from a different source, Arum would be robbed of the possibility of cooking the books in his favour, furthermore, Pacquiao would see just how much he is paying Arum when the later has to ask for his share of the pie.

The issue people run into is conflating Pacquiao's biggest pay day with Arum's biggest pay day. Arum will stand to make a lot less if he's not in control.

The fact that he's already brought up the fight occurring in Texas should be proof of his intention. Already, he is looking to set up unnecessary roadblocks.

Pacquiao doesn't fight under his own banner, he fights for Top Rank. The package that was offered to Manny Pacquiao/Top Rank was $40m guaranteed plus 35% of whatever the upside on the event ended up being. How Pacquiao and Top Rank split up that money is up to them.

Same concept as to how the current Pacquiao-Algieri fight is shaking out; Top Rank offered a package to Star Boxing/Banner Promotions, for Algieri's cut, and the split between those guys ends up with apparently Algieri getting $1.5m + a cut of the upside on the PPV.

Algieri gets paid, Star Boxing gets some money, and Banner Promotions gets some money.

If the breakdown with Top Rank ends up being, to Manny, $30m + 20% of the upside on the PPV, so be it.
