The Lost Art of The Press Conference Promoter?

The usual format of press conferences adheres to a structure where the promoter first speaks, often followed by the manager, then the trainer and eventually the fighter. These days I find myself skipping by the promoter's intro, bypassing the manager and instead go straight to the trainer and the fighter.

This usually applies especially to the older promoters like Frank Warren and Bob Arum - maybe they should get some sort of hype man, or front man, someone younger and more energetic to give the introductory speeches?

Maybe it's not so bad with the younger promoters like De La Hoya and Hearn but I just watched the Chisora press conference for the Fury fight and I skipped Warren's intro instantly. It's become a habit with the older promoters, and sometimes the younger ones depending on how motivated they sound.

Whatever happened to Don King? Is press conference promoting a lost art?

Why do you want a hype man? Its a "press conference" as in for the press. You know reporters, journalists, media.

Its not supposed to be some even with a carnival barker trying to hype you up. You dont promote a press conference, you promote a fight.

fights, via the press conference have always been promoted best by charismatic fighters, these days there aren't that many. Growing up with Eubank, Benn, Naz, Tyson (who went too far), Toney, Hops, we were pretty much spoiled for choice.

              Now we have Andre Ward.

Not all press conferences were electric back in the day either.

I think the networks have taken the art of promotion out of the game a bit though. Social media too to some extent. Promoters don't have to deliver a show for the cameras any more. The cameras will be there week in week out.
