Comments Thread For: Cuadras open to Roman Gonzalez bout if Teiken makes it

The prospect of power puncher vs. power puncher is always an alluring one. And so after 115-pound titleholder Carlos Cuadras topped Marvin Mabait this past Thursday, he was asked about facing 112-pound champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez.

“It is hard because we are both from Teiken Promotions,” he said at one point, but later saying that he’d be open to it if the promoter wants to make the bout. [Click Here To Read More]

CC would b the bigger guy but Roman takes him put b4 #6...Cuadras was in Japan for most of last year when he was having "problems"...Gonzalez does show defense, CC has virtually none, that will b the key.. plus he has been cut in last 3 bouts, last 1 quite severe, going in 2 the forehead...

Carlos Cuadras has virtually none? Haha...

Cuadras has a very good defense, a good footwork, with speed, and a good arsenal of highlights. Cuadras has very good skills(he was panamerican champion in amateur) and the most important: Power.

Roman had a lot of problemas with Rodriguez Jr and Estrada(in 108, with Estrada drained), Cuadras absolutely can defeat Roman.

Cuadras > All Gonzalez rivals(less Estrada).

CC is good at slipping and using lateral movements to neutralize his opponents power. He is technically sound offensively and to top it off he has power behind his punches. Gonzalez has a solid defense but is extremely hittable when attacked with angles and combinations(Ex. Estrada's success early in their fight), something Cuadras is great at. Sure Carlos has been cut in his last 3 fights but sadly they usually occur due to head clashes, not because he takes punches to the face consistently to the point of getting bloodied.

I don't know, this fight would be a 50/50 for me. I love both guys and their styles clash perfectly so it would be an exciting fight. However, I think Hougigo nailed it right on the head with his post. I doubt he'd give up a possible career payday at 112 for a belt at 115, which he could still chase after the Estrada rematch.

            King Roman in the house.
Take the Estrada rematch on HBO first though. Fight on there more than that commentator Son of Goosen

HBO, they offered a 500k split and they were good with it, but they want to build it up

One of them would need ton leave Teiken for this to happen due to JBC rules regarding a promoter being in charge of both fighters.
