Floyd Mayweather: "I'll Bring it To Oscar De La Hoya"

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has taken the final step towards a pay per view mega-fight with Arturo "Thunder" Gatti this Summer. Mayweather is awaiting the results of this weekend's bout between Arturo Gatti and Jesse James Leija. Should Gatti handle business as planned this coming weekend, a bout between him and Mayweather should land in May.

BoxingScene caught up with Mayweather over the weekend to discuss his plans for the Gatti fight, possible matches against Kostya Tszyu, Miguel Cotto and a move to welterweight for possible bouts against De La Hoya, Mosley and Spinks. [details]

I agree. I`d favour Mayweather to bust Gatti up in 8 rds but De La Hoya is too big and i doubt Mayweather can dance around him for 12 rds and steal a dec, Oscar would catch him and i believe Mayweather`s chin, although still untested, will cave in. I seriously suspect Floyd of having a glass jaw. I know he hasn`t been hit properly so no one can tell but he strikes me as over protective of his chin, we`ll wait and see. As for aq match with Oscar, ****** mistake!

he hasn't been hit because he is a good defensive fighter. Not only good but an excellent one. His chin may be his weakness, but no one knows, yet, and if so, he's good in protecting it. Every boxer has his own weakness(es), even the great ones. But the best fighters in the world are at their best when they are not exposing them (weaknesses).

He reminded me of Ali. For a very long time, Ali reigned the boxing world and everybody thought he has no weakness. Yet Frazier exposed it in their first fight. Ali can't throw an uppercut! Frazier kept on pounding on the body with his head down. Ali could not keep up with Frazier's pace; and late in the 12th round he throw an uppercut, he missed. And it was the opportunity Frazier was looking for the whole match. Ali missed and Frazier countered with a nasty right hook, on Ali's chin.

But I still think Mayweather is the best. Gatti/Leija will be his biggest challenge. If Mayweather will prevail, it will be because of defense, and he is good at it./
