Comments Thread For: Khan: Algieri May Surprise People Against Pacquiao

Former champion Amir Khan is picking his former stablemate, Manny Pacquiao, to defeat Chris Algieri next Saturday night in Macau, China - but says it won't be as easy as many people think. Khan was once guided by Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, and the two boxers trained side by side for several years before Khan left the Wild Card Gym and hired Virgil Hunter.

Algieri (20-0, 8KOs) is taller and longer and wants to use his jab to control Pacquiao's aggression. Khan says Pacquiao is no longer the same guy who terrorized the welterweight ranks with a series of big wins and vicious knockouts.

Won't be surprised if Khan gets hate even on this one.

Algieri's style does not suit Manny. It's just a question of whether or not Algieri can execute his style effectively against a guy on Manny's level. If he can, he will make it interesting.

What Khan said sounded sensible. Pac has slowed down some (but adjusted by using diff boxing techniques) and also has some distractions back in the Philippines. It's basically what we already know about.

Algieri needs to retire Pacman. These TBE vs Pacman debates need to end ASAP. Pacman getting clipped by Algieri will effectively give Money Mayweather his biggest excuse not to fight Pacman.

                  WAR ALGIERI!

Pac dominated Rios and Bradley for the second time... Khan beat a washed up Collazo, went life and death with J. Diaz and lost to Peterson... but we're supposed to believe he's looked better than Pac and is a bigger threat to Floyd... ughhh yah I think not...
