Manchester's Terry "Turbo" Flanagan has been ordered to defend his British lightweight title against Lancashire rival Scott "Scotty" Cardle by March of next year. The mandatory defence was ordered yesterday by the BBBoC, with purse bids due in by noon of December 10th.
Flanagan, 25-0 (9), has to get past Stephen Ormond first; he will challenge for the Dubliner's WBO European title on December 13th and faces a tough test against the 17-1 (8) champion. Ormond has notched up wins over Karim El Ouazghari (TKO 5), Derry Mathews (W 10) and Adam Dingsdale in recent fights (W 10). Cracking "The Rock" is no easy feat, so Flanagan will have to focus on that fight before turning his mind to Cardle.
