Chris is a bum, Pac wins this one easy. I'll still order the fight though, its got a nice undercard.Comment

I'm only interested in this fight because of styles. I just want to see how Manny approaches the fight. He'll have to cut the ring a lot. Will he seek a KO to get this dancing kid out of there?
Of course I still stand on Pac having an easy, easy night.Comment

fair point made. but i personally thought algieri is pretty fast at planting, throwing, and moving immediately after.I dont think it will an easy night for Manny but to compare what Prov looked like to what Manny will look like is silly. I think Pac will counter that jab and make Algieri think a little more. Algieri will have to plant his feet once in a while if he wants to land some hard shots and Manny will capitalize in it. Im willing to bet with anyone that Manny wins this one.
perhaps im underestimating pacquiao's footspeed. but then, timing beats speed.
1. horrific results, agreed. emulating floyd might not be the problem, but rather emulating the PERCEIVED mayweather. ie shoulder roller. but theres so much more to floyd's game than shoulder rolling. like many analysts have mentioned before, floyd is good at shoulder rolling because he knows WHEN to use it, and not use it like its his only defensive move.A lost art? I highly debate that, in fact I think more and more up and comers are doing it trying to emulate Floyd with horrific results for them. Algieri is the bigger man, fighting in retreat mode does not play to his strengths, him forcing Pacquaio backwards does because it frustrates him and makes him reckless. Algieri on the back foot is a recipe to get feinted to sleep. The reality is Roach and Pacquaio are preparing to fight a man who is going to be on his back foot, I think Algieri could throw a wrench in it by fighting forward instead and being more aggressive. Ppl act like this guy can't punch, Ruslan eventually came to respect his power in that fight.
2. good point on fighting forwards. high output will disrupt pacquiao's rhythm and for sure give him trouble. i would imagine a style like thomas hearns vs duran, would be the most suitable. high output of straight, long punches, while maintaining that perfect distance. dont get me wrong, i am NOT comparing algieri to hearns.
3. agreed. watch ruslan's head snapback multiple times through the fight. and lets not forget ruslan is built like a tank.
i really dont think he has a chance at knocking pacquiao out at all, but to say he has no power is wrong. he throws a lot of pitty patty jabs, but i think its his way of mixing up speed in his punches.
i think algieri is way too underrated here. he has some ugly looking head movement (but still existent), he can punch, he can move, he has ring IQ. this won't be easy for pacquiao.
imma be ballsy and get ready to be told that I dont know **** about boxing, but imma say algieiri by decision.... dont kill me :PComment

IMO, not chris's fault... never got let out of his cageAlgieri is the best stick and move artist in boxing, stick and move boxiing is becoming a lost art, the fight will look similar to Pac vs Mosley but Pac losing.
Mosley was moving and running but rarely threw a punch, Pac couldn't catch him. Algieri sticks and moves sticks and moves, Pac will look like Ruslan and just walk slowly if Pac gets aggressive and leaps in Chris can knock him out with a right hand counter catching Manny lunging in.
All Chris has to do is stick and move and pump the jab even if he just pumps the jab at air keep his arm out and Pac will be cautious to go forward, its a wrap easy work.
Only way Pac wins is if he all of a sudden found a way to cut off the ring without lunging and or baits Algieri and counters him from the middle of the ring.Comment
