San Francisco - This past Saturday, Karim "Hard Hitta" Mayfield (19-2-1, 11 KOs) impressed his hometown fans with a dominating 8-round unanimous decision against Michael Balasi (10-6, 7 KOs) of Honolulu, HI, as he got back in the win column. OPP Boxing and Mo'Betta Entertainment were the promoters.
In front of a sold out crowd at the Longshoreman Hall, Mayfield was able to land a plethora power shots against a game Balasi. The Hawaiian born Balasi was able to withstand the hard shots Mayfield was landing early in the fight, but was almost stopped in the eighth round when Karim landed a nice combination that had him wobbled. Balasi toughed it out and made it to the final bell. Scorecards read 79-73 and 80-72 twice.
