What weight divisions and belt would you ELIMINATE!?

I'd mash together a couple of the lower weight divisions. It's crazy how there are probably more divisions between 108-135 than 135-200 plus. I get that the lower in weight you get, the more those few pounds matter, but it still seems extreme.
As for belts, 2 would be good. One for the supposed real champ, and another for guys like Golovkin and Rigondeaux, fighters who need belts to get fights.Comment

The weights are fine, there are people who are tweeners and would be at a disadvantage in either weight class you put them in higher or lower so I would leave them.
I also dont mind having 3-4 belts, it makes unifications and things of that nature very interesting like Hopkins-Kovalev this past weekend, but everything else would be gone. Along with those super duper titles.
I would have unification fights be encouraged and stripping titleholders for doing so would be eliminated, making it easier for an undisputed champion to exist.
A better ranking system would be great to have that way fighters who deserve it get shots and have to earn them, and mandatory fights which everyone hates could be more interesting as well.Comment

I agree. Thats why I stated that they should have one unified champ and an interum champ. Like the brits do with the euro belt or commonwealth titles. Once you challenge for a "world" title, the euro belt goes vacant. Same should be done with the interum belts.I'd mash together a couple of the lower weight divisions. IMO these are the BEST rankings out there transnational boxing rankings:The weights are fine, there are people who are tweeners and would be at a disadvantage in either weight class you put them in higher or lower so I would leave them.

Yeah, if something like this was honored, no one could really complain about "champs" fighting guys in this kind of thing.IMO these are the BEST rankings out there transnational boxing rankings:

And it would get rid of random joe getting a top ten ranking for one fight to make it seem like a "champ" is fighting someone who matters.Comment

Yeah, I agree.
I don't have an issue with the weigh classes as such. (apart from how they are sometimes referred too as different things although they are fundamentally the same thing, like Super Welterweight and Light Middleweight, but whatever, I can get past that)
My main thing that gets me is the amount of titles flying around. I would love to see one title per division again. One title, one champion and a line of contenders. It would be perfect. None of the stuff you see today where a guy can be a lineal champ while someone else is classed as the champion too, and people avoiding challenges for more beneficial routes etc.. it is nonsense. I would love for this to go back to the old days but money talks too much.Comment

I would literally take out all the "super" and "junior" crap. If you can't handle the weight division oh well lmao
201 lbs+ heavyweight
176-200 lbs- cruiserweight
161-175 lbs- light heavyweight
148-160 lbs- middleweight
136-147 lbs- welterweight
127-135 lbs- lightweight
119-126 lbs- featherweight
113-122 lbs- bantamweight
105-112 lbs- flyweight
I would however, keep the sanctioning bodies WBC/WBO/IBF/WBA, but just one champion from each belt organizations with ONE interum. Vacating the interum once you get a "world" championship match.Comment
