Comments Thread For: Porter: Rematch With Kell Brook Would Be Different

As previously reported by BoxingScene.com, Shawn Porter will return to the ring in January against an opponent to be determined soon.

The Ohio native suffered his first career loss against Kell Brook in his last fight. The fight wasn't very aesthetically pleasing and Porter had trouble getting effective punches off against Brook's holding tactics. He said that he has focused on that as a rematch would have far different results.

Then he needs to hire a new referee. One who is going to allow him to do some infighting by not always separating the clinches each time he gets tied up.

Brook definitely should have lost at least one point for the excessive amount of holding he engaged in during that fight. Other than that I thought he boxed superbly. But saying that you still have to wonder how the fight would have turned out if the referee would have penalized him for some of the excessive holding. I love how Al Bernstein never mentioned the holding that Brook did (and he did a lot of it) but two weeks later in the Mayweather Maidana II fight he complained about every clinch that Mayweather engaged in which wasn't even half the amount of clinches that Kell Brook committed. But then again they blamed Mayweather for the fact that Maidana bit his hand. So maybe I shouldn't even be making the comparison.

Porter has the worst technique i've ever seen! I blame his father/trainer.

They'll rematch if the time is right. Firstly, Porter needs to get back on his feet early next year, then have 2 statement wins in the summer and winter and he'll be right back in the thick of things

this is a bout that won't happened till end of '15...Kell needs a tune up 2c if has no I effects from the attack....Porter will have 2 bouts b4 Kell, IMO...he needs that 2 reestablish credibility, remember he had 38 Staples, not stiches to close that wound, hopefully , no nerve damage...

Porter had 48 minutes to adjust !
                  36 actual in fight
12 sitting on the stool with his team
BS - His arrogant father should not have invited Brook's team over to their gym to watch his son spar - how arrogant and ****** is that? just sparring my arse, you get to look at footwork, technique, reflexes, physique - basically size him up !

                    elf sized Porter too small

Tiny mini man Porter is munchkin sized and was exposed by the bigger faster kell Brook. Porter isn't that good and is way to small being munchkin sized to be a factor anywhere but on the yellow brick road to OZ.
