Old School Technique - Shifting

Kovalev schooled Hopkins with it. I believe he employed it to trap Hopkins in the corner for the crisp knockdown. -
yeah kovalev and ggg do it a lot. It's a very efficient way to close gap on someone and throw hard shots but is also risky.
Kovalev and GGG command so much respect with their power that when they throw punches most fighters are covering up or ducking and weaving so they can get away with it most often than not. I mean I haven't seen them get hit hard while shifting.
In the west you'd get yelled at by your coach for doing that.Last edited by TRTboy; 11-10-2014, 12:39 AM.Comment

I tell what happens in gyms many trainers say that you will walk into punches or get knock down while your shifting but I disagree it helps you cut off the ring avoid punches or set up a punch that normally wouldn't land but are now able to land because of your new positionComment
