Each scenario is essentially the same, yet I doubt most here would say GGG is ducking Kovalev. I'm interested in what GGG fans have to say about this.
If Floyd should fight GGG shouldn't GGG fight Kovalev?

Not a GGG fanboy but I'd say the difference is that he'd go to 154 to fight Mayweather. Kathy Duva just said that the only way GGG-Kovalev happens is at 175.
Mayweather would be fighting in a weight class where he's already fought before and is a current champion. Golovkin would have to jump 15lbs.
Neither fight will likely ever happen though so this thread is kinda moot. -
Let's be honest most would call GGG drained @ 154. We don't know what he'd look like dropping that weight. GGG is no spring chicken and it would be dumb to move down in weight. Of course he'd do it for the money, but people would call him handicapped. Not a GGG fanboy but I'd say the difference is that he'd go to 154 to fight Mayweather. Ok so? That's not really what you asked in the thread. You asked for differences in the scenarios and I gave you them.
People would say Kovalev was too big for GGG. People would say Mayweather was old if he lost. People say a lot of **** after fights are over.Comment

It's possible, but get this: he was 165 30 days before Rubio, and 161 5 days prior. Most SWWs are heavier at that stage.Comment
