Comments Thread For: Duva: Golovkin vs. Kovalev Can Only Happen at 175!

Main Events CEO, Kathy Duva, reacting to some recent statements by trainer Abel Sanchez, said it is certainly possible to do a fight between Sergey Kovalev (26-0-1, 23KOs) and Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs) - but only if GGG moves up to 175-pounds to face her boxer. She says a catch-weight will not be entertained as Kovalev already works hard just to make his division limit.

Who in the world is demanding this fight? Both guys have a lot of unfinished business and two divisions between them.

Makes sense that's the only place it can happen... don't see GGG going to 175 anytime soon though

After he fights the Canelo/Cotto winner GGG should entertain the idea.

Won't happen for a while, if ever.

Kovalev would lay Golovkin out at 175 IMO.

Who would take such a fight seriously. It would be a kind of sparring between buddies. Much more friendly than the B-Hop fight.

Golovkin is a big middleweight, so maybe... It is one mouth watering scenario for sure.

You wouldn't buy it? Hopkins wanted to fight Mayweather at some surreal catchweight.

Oh, the hardest puncher and best fighter in the division would lay out a guy 2 weight classes below him?

                    Any more brilliant predictions?
