Exactly, only guy to take Kova past 8 was this old man. 10 years ago, Hopkins serves this neanderthal up on a platter. Really though, Kova's reach and power were just a bit too much for Hopkins to overcome. I think if he packed just a little less punch, then this fight would have been very different but once he caught Hopkins on the top of the head in the first, Hopkins didn't want to engage. Nothing Hopkins could do about the power aspect but Kova looks to be the real deal, not just a power puncher but a pretty decent boxer as well.
If Stevenson won't fight Kovalev, then Kova should press for a fight with Ward, Braehmer, or a catchweight fight with Huck.
I have no doubt that Sergey's strength, skills, athleticism, training, and focus would be the deciding factor if he were to face BHop at any other point of Bernards' career just as they were this fight (in other words, I believe that Sergey would defeat BHop at any other point of his career); however, we will never know if I am correct or not. It is my opinion, and it is nothing more. For last night's fight, BHop has nothing to be ashamed of. He gave it his all - he never quit - yet he was fighting Kovalev, the fighter whom others in the light-heavyweight division avoided or outright ran from; therefore, no fan of Hopkins need be upset at the result of this fight. In fact, all fans can be satisfied that Bernard did his best under very challenging circumstances. Hopkins is a warrior, and I believe that he can successfully continue to box at the highest level. I do not want Bernard to continue boxing as he has nothing left to prove, but if BHop wants to continue to box, I saw nothing last night that would make me say that he's not fit to continue boxing. Post fight Sergey also spoke highly of BHop and stated that he believes that BHop beats Stevenson.
Those that hate on Krusher have no life and would never be happy with a champ that faught his butt off to have what he has! Respect. Most of y'all know nothing of it! Show some. Kovalev deserves it! Props to B-Hopp for taking a whooping like that! Stevenson is a chump! Ward is Chump! That's that!

I disagree. The BHOP that fought and lost to Taylor or that beat Pavlik would've lost to this Kovalev. You said it yourself, the power, size, reach & boxing acumen would've been too much for Bernard. If he was a little quicker, it may have been a closer fight, but I still see Kova dominating. Smart, patient boxers beat Hopkins...that's Kova.
