Comments Thread For: Frank Warren Breaks Down Hopkins vs. Kovalev Clash

The Alien versus The Krusher sounds like something you would expect to witness in a WWE free-for-all rather than a WBA or WBO ringfest. But when the two boxers who rejoice in those respective noms du guerre clash in Atlantic City tomorrow night it will be the most fascinating match-up of the year. And one that could be frighteningly explosive.

Bernard Hopkins, a thoroughbred old warhorse who has ditched his earlier appendage as The Executioner in favour of The Alien (don’t ask me why), encounters Sergey ‘Krusher’ Kovalev, the ruthless Russian who has earned his own nickname by being arguably the most destructive ****er in the game.

EXCELLENT piece, for real. Very smart breakdown and analysis of this fight. I agree with him when he says that if Kovalev catches him in the arm, he might break the arm. This is a 50 year old man in front of him.

Kovalev has to hit him EVERYWHERE. Hit him wherever you can catch him and break him down.

Warren going out of his way to point out all things negative about Bernard Hopkins. Sounds whiny and bitter.

Evidently not that smart. He thinks Hopkins turned pro at age 33.

Other than his punching power, how would you rate Kovalev's skill set? Because that advice doesn't sound like you have much faith in it.

Frank doesn't care for this article.

Ol Fish Eyes doesn't have an eye for numbers so it seems so to help the casual fan:

Hopkins has faced 65 opponents not 55
Kovalev is 31-32 years old Hopkins 49 Hopkins is about 18 years older not 21.
I have no idea what warren is trying to say about "life begins at 30 for fighters" (isn't that when most start to get over the hill?) and 33 for Hopkins when he lost his professional debut at 33, he was 23 in 1988 Frank, he was in his third year as world champ by 33.
All his negativity had only only one reference point, the Calzaghe fight, he wrote it in a way that he was listing from several but it's plain that he knows nothing of Hopkins or any other fighter in the world if they're not involved with his own fighters.
I wouldn't mind so much but this is like a 250-300 word article put together by a man who has been in the sport 40 years

Frank I think does this article for free, whatever the reason it's clear he doesn't proof read or has any input whatsoever mentally it's all from the top of his head stuff. A shambles of an article that took him 2 minutes to type. He even finishes the article sitting on the fence!
You're better off asking your dad for an opinion. And don't bother with this tripe!
