Comments Thread For: Collins: Eubank Needs a Knockout To Beat Saunders

Irish fight legend Steve Collins is stumped on picking a winner out of the big domestic blockbuster between Billy Joe Saunders and Chris Eubank Jnr. on Saturday 29th November at the ExCeL London.

Collins, who won WBO World titles at middleweight and super-middleweight, is excited about the massive domestic grudge fight that is dividing the nation and is finding it too hard to call.

Hatfield ace Saunders defends his British, Commonwealth and European Middleweight titles against Brighton star Eubank Jnr., also an Eliminator for the WBO World title, on a huge fight card titled 'Bad Blood', headlined by Dereck Chisora's heavyweight showdown against Tyson Fury, plus FIVE further big title fights. Two things:

Eubank was robbed against Collins and Collins got him at the right time. Most people don't even put them in the same sentance, like Trevor Berbick and Ali.

    Eubank Jnr WILL KO BJS.

All Eubanks has to do is ko BJS to win. That should be easy win for Eubank then as he is good at ko'ing people that's all he does.

Collins just had Eubank's number. It's all down to the styles. Eubank was a much better boxer but Collins could fight at a higher pace and was the first guy Eubank ever fought who was as strong as he was, and as iron chinned.

Plus, Collins psyched Eubank out before both fights. There was something about him that unnerved Eubank and Chris Sr was honest enough to admit that in a recent interview.

I agree with what Collins says about Jr vs BJS. If it goes the distance, Saunders will win.

But Collins is right about one thing. THat Eubank had one tough chin. The beating he took off of Watson in the second fight, and still koed Watson, god bless Watson.

If Eubanks Jnr has inherited his pa pas chin, he will go a long way with that alone.

Collins talks nonsense. Saying Saunders has proven himself at the top level? He's still a domestic level fighter, and if you're talking about the top level in the UK, then the types of Murray and Macklin are well ahead of Saunders.

Saunders has been in with a few fighters who are better than the fighters Eubank has but on a whole, i wouldn't say there's a huge gulf in class between the majority of their opponents. People are acting like Saunders is a proven world class fighter who is beating top fighters when it's not true at all. He has looked very average in some domestic level fights.

The way some people are talking about it, you would think it is a great fighter against a novice. It's really two guys who are currently domestic level, one of which is a little more proven than the other.

I would still give Saunders a chance at beating both Murray and Macklin. Its really hard to quantify talent at middleweight at the moment.

BJS has boxed at a much higher level than Eubank Jr. He's the European, Commonwealth and WBO international champ and won commonwealth gold as an amateur.
Jr had just 10 amateur fights hasn't even fought a top level domestic yet. And I'm not talking about Macklin and Murray there.
A lot of people don't realise how green Jr is. He has talent and a great team behind him, but no real experience as yet.

Chris Eubank admitted before the Collins fight that he was **** scared of Collins and wanted to pull out of it, and he is also making a huge mistake getting his son in with BJS as he is currently leagues above and has been for many years, Jr wont be able to show off and mock Saunders as he will get put on his arse, Jrs fights so far have all been a joke the same cant be said of Saunders.
