Kovalev has yet to face a top tier fighter, but Hopkins has been fooling the public? I believe Jackson is the fool, he is obviously vicariously living through Kovalev with this fight. Kovalev (and any fighter) can get lucky and land that shot, but based on Kovalev's past fights it is clear he is easy to hit and he is only effective when his opponents stand in front of him. If the Hopkins who fought Pavlik shows up, Kovalev is in trouble. Hopkins has great success against punchers, it's the slick boxer Hopkins struggles with.

Trainers should just stay quite? Quite WHAT?

Kov haters/BHop fanboys have selective memory. Yeah, Kov hasn't faced the opposition BHop has, obviously. But Kov isn't just some plodding puncher. He's smarter than that, and he will give BHop many twists and turns to deal with tonight. We fans are the winners. I doubt this one will be a boring matchup.Comment

Practically all of his notable wins, the opponents moved up two weight classes, with the exception of Tarver, who moved down from Heavyweight. Lol! Fact, Bernard got beat in every ERA.I agree with Jackson to an extent. There's been a lotta smoke-n-mirrors to what Hopkins has done his entire career. He's almost as good an opportunist as he is a fighter. Every move has been planned. And every risk has been carefully calculated. Tarver was a calculated risk. Pavlik was a calculated risk. And Kovalev is just next on the list. There was no pressure on gim to fight Kovalev. There wasn't even much public demand. He obviously has seen something in Kovalev that he thinks he can exploit. I saw it in the Agnew fight. Now the only question is will his 50yr old body enable him to exploit it?Comment

Its just not possible to take anything away from Bernard Hopkins, unless you don't know this sport and are a casual fan that just started watching you may have a uneducated view of his career. If you are a follower of the sport then you should know that he is an All Time Great Boxer, Fighter, Tactician, Athlete and Warrior.
Jackson saying this in the same breath as he gives him credit sound more like he's trying to feel better about his fighters chance and it unnecessary.
Bernard has never been beaten up, he has lost decisions but he has always taken care of himself and when the time comes for him to go to war, as he may against Kova, he will show up and show us what he is, an all time great.Comment

Jackson has been saying B-Hop is an old man from the start of training camp. It's Bernard and the fans he convinced that he is a better fighter now than he was 10 years ago. You see, because those losses on his record, that's back when he was still learning a few things. Now he's fully prepared. If he knew then what he knows now he would have beaten Taylor, stopped Calzaghe, and Dawson. But that was before he mastered everything. Sarcasm is strong today.
Kathy Duva is the one who said the confidence of Hopkins and his camp, along with many who think Hopkins can school a young lion, should not fall back on the idea that Kovalev won because Hopkins was too old. We all know that will be the first thing anyone will say when B-Hop looks his age in there.
he's old, just like other old legends, if he loses, his age would have been the main factor in his loss
i'm sorry if you dont like the hard facts, its just how it goes, BHOP is no alien, he is a satisfied old man going in there with a talented hungry young man, i expect him to loseComment
