Speed and power to Canelo? I don't know about that. I'd say their power is equal. Mosley said Cotto hit harder and Trout wasn't really sure who hit harder since Cotto didn't land too many big shots on him.

As far as speed goes Canelo's going to look slow as hell compared to Cotto on fight night.

Fair enough assessment, although I'm not sure about the speed part.

But talking about heart, it's hard to assess the heart of a Canelo who's never been taken to deep waters by any fighter. Whereas Cotto has proven himself in numerous wars, dating back to his shootout with Ricardo Torres. You mention Margacheato, so you must realize that Cotto was getting bludgeoned by something other than just plain fists, right? Against Pacquiao, he got KO'ed in the last round. Other than that, I don't see the fold part. In fact, Cotto was being very successful in the first part of the fight.

After round 4 it seems he was scared to go at pacquiao compared to the first 4 rounds where his demeanor was different and his approach on attack was more obvious, it seemed to me at least after that pacquiao took control and kept it, he did stay there but he was just avoiding attack alot of the rounds after the 4th round knockdown.

With regards to margarito yes he was getting hit by loaded gloves but he was forced to quit the fight against him when his uncle should have thats why i said i edge it slightly to Alvarez for the time being as he has never been in deep water but cotto has shown a little dent in that department.

I slightly edge it to canelo as he does have fast hands, its more cottos timing which he uses effectively imo. Power was hard one as it is close but i edge it to canelo on being the bigger guy, dropping trout so its close (alot of the attributes are) Cotto for sure has the faster feet though.

Not using this as an excuse, but that Pacquiao fight could've been so much different had Cotto had a decent corner. He had broken up with his uncle, who you mentioned, and gotten this clueless trainer (Joe Santiago) in his corner. It was like having no one. Not saying Cotto would've won, but he would've had a much better fight plan and would've executed a lot better. It would've been a different fight, is all I'm saying.
