Canelo is like the Dallas Cowboys from mexico, you either love him or hate him, still no other fighter gets close to his ratings on TV, neither chavezjr or marquez... the kid was selling out arenas when he was only a teen... and despite the hate he gets for being with televisa(tv network), he still the most popular fighter in mexico by far...
by the way haters in mexico were calling trout and lara punching bags, and as soon as the cotto fight gets signed they will call cotto and old shot punching bag too...

Cotto hasn't been in many fights where he was supposed to lose but beats a guy's ass.

He was favored to beat Quintana, Mosley(I had it a Draw), Judah, Margarito I, Clottey(I had Clottey winning), Trout, Mayorga, Foreman, Rodriguez, and Margarito the second fight and won all except Trout and Margarito I fights.

He was underdog to lose against Pacquiao, Mayweather, Martinez, and lost all except Martinez.

So, I don't know what upsets were the one's Cotto was 'always' discredited for when this was the first upset of his career. It couldn't be his 140 days either where he was favored against everybody there, Malignaggi, Torres, Corley, Bailey, NDou, Sosa, etc.

Cotto has been the favorite for the majority of his big fights. He was underdog in 3 pro fights and lost 2.

I constantly hear that Clottey and Mosley were robbed, when they both lost, to my eyes and the majority of boxing people who scored them, close, but clear decisions to Cotto. "Only in MSG he gets those decisions." Always hear that excuse.

Foreman's knee, even though Cotto was beating him easily before it even was injured. Corley? He got rocked though and apparently showed his glass chin. Maliagnaggi? Should've stopped him because Paulie has no power. Torres? Unknown late replacement who hurt him badly, ignoring that he was later 140 alphabet champ and that Cotto looked almost sickly weighing in. Judah? Coming in off a win over a journeyman and a 2 losses. Nevermind that it was only Cotto's 2nd fight at 147 and he absolutely demolished him. Let's not forget Cotto's low blows that some claim are the reason he won

People always make excuse when he wins and he never gets full credit for them from the majority of people.

What I mean is that if you want to make the thread, That is fine, Just don't prematurely blow your wad. If the venue continues to hold the fight up, There might not even be a fight. We know damn well that if this fight happens, It will definitely not happen in Texas, and it Most Definitely won't happen at MSG. I predict that if it happens, it will be on PR Pride week, And that it would happen in Vegas. The fight is not happening in May. Mayweather owns those dates and for Canelo and Cotto to claim they deserve those days over Mayweather is absurd. Mayweather beat them. That is how he holds those dates over them. Like I said.
