Comments Thread For: Amir Khan, Golden Boy VP Say Relationship Will Continue

As Amir Khan moves forward with his December 13th showdown against Devon Alexander at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, there is much speculation over his long-term status with Golden Boy Promotions, which has promoted him for the past several years. Last year, Khan inked a deal with adviser, Al Haymon. And like many of Haymon's other clients, Khan's contractual situation with Golden Boy is murky.

Will Khan be under the GBP promotional umbrella after this upcoming fight?

After all Khan is the epitome of the company's name.

I'm glad he will be working with GBP after this fight. A great organization that cares about the under cards as demonstrated by this triple header.

I don't know if you complained about the Garcia/Salka triple header, but I find it funny that people who did, blamed that one on Haymon, and give GB credit for this one. Even though the card only consists of Haymon fighters.

exactly this card basically gets them off of Golden Boy.

The problem with that way of thinking is that it supposes that Haymon is giving us a good card just because he wants the fans to have a good product. I don't believe that's the case at all. He's put together a good card this time because it's a strategic move; he's thinking big picture. He knows that if Khan can get a win here, then they have their opponent for Floyd set up. So if they stack this card and do the best they can to draw attention from viewers and casual fans, then it'll be easier to promote the Floyd/Khan fight in the future. This is not about giving the fans what they want to see. If it was, we wouldn't have gotten Barthelemy and Fonfara in consecutive main events. Give me a break.
