Comments Thread For: Groves: DeGale Needs Me, To Froch He's Worthless

George Groves says a fight with his fellow British super-middleweight James DeGale is possible – but that DeGale needs the fight more than he does.

Groves bounced back from a pair of dramatic losses to Carl Froch with a points victory over Christopher Rebrasse at Wembley Arena in September and will next fight Denis Douglin of America in Liverpool on November 22.

DeGale will also be on that bill – he is scheduled to face Marco Antonio Periban of Mexico – and victories for the British duo could lead to calls for them to fight again.

Groves narrowly won their exciting first bout on points at the O2 Arena in May 2011, a verdict DeGale disputed, and the beaten man has subsequently gone on to win nine bouts in a row since suffering that first defeat as a pro.

Both Groves and DeGale are insufferable now. :yuck: Have a rematch, whatever, but I'll be sure to skip all the build-up... It was repulsive enough the first time, even though I liked Groves back then. Ugly Kid, more like Annoying Twat.

DeGale has wanted you for years but you refused the rematch.

Now you've bottled it at world level twice, you want to start mentioning DeGale again because he's in position to succeed where you choked.

      Bore off Ugly Kid

For those who are inclined, it's getting increasingly difficult to defend Groves.

He must've not been given enough oxygen after he got knocked the *** out in the rematch.

Groves act like he's some money making machine. The only reason people paid for his recent fights were because they were against Froch, and there was needle.
The best chance he's got of making more big money is by fighting DeGale..and that's because that fight also brings a rivalry.

Groves has his shot - lost the fight with Froch so needs to re-build.

Whether he likes it or not Degale has a little more stock at this point.

On reflection I believe that the only real option (financially speaking) is for them both to fight each other again.

I can't really feel sorry for Groves, he had two opportunities to win a World title and made a very decent sum of money in the process.

I don't like Degale, but in fairness he is in a better position as long as he keeps winning.

                  UK boxers hide in England

Sad how UK fighters all seem to stay and fight only in the UK not venturing to America to take on the best fighters and make a name with a big win. Hatton came and lost but tried as did froch. Groves is a weak nothing as is Cleverly and bellew and Burns and Haye. Calzaghe never ventured out till Jones and Hop were old. UK fighters think that small island is the world.
