Former world champion Mikkel Kessler is now telling Danish media that he´s tired of waiting for the big fights and is hinting at retirement. Kessler announced about six months ago that he wanted to resume his career, but he also made it very clear he was only interested in the really big names such as Andre Ward or Carl Froch. There has apparently been talks with the various parties but this far nothing has materialized. [Click Here To Read More]

GGG should be fighting Kessler at a catchweight in his next bout instead of fighting another mismatch. If GGG wants the big fights against the big name opponents, he has to beat some quality opponents like Kessler to show that he is worthy of getting fights with big names. Instead, he continues to fight stiffs and has-beens while hoping that the WBC will force Cotto to fight him next.
He can forget about that fight. Cotto has much better options than GGG. -

I think if Kessler doesn't take too long to get warmed up, and is fairly sharp, he could actually embarrass GGG. Would depend on Kessler really.Comment

Kess needs to be realistic. He needs at least a tuneup win or some type of fight before getting in with the A-list at 168. He would never beat Ward so it's a no starter and Froch will only use him as a cash grab if the JCCJr. fight doesn't get made. He should look into fighting somebody like Dirrell's kid brother for his strap or Art Abraham. Seems like even matchups.Comment

Kessler should move up to 175 for a few big paydays. I'm sure the likes of Pascal, Bute, Stevenson, Kovalev, Hopkins, Dawson etc would like to fight him.Comment

Great post. Kessler is coming up on a year and a half inactive after a loss. The only use anyone A-list has for him at this point is to be a cash-grab opponent. If he really wants to continue his career, he needs to be fighting and not waiting around for a payday.Kess needs to be realistic. There are world titles to be won, but if Kessler isn't interested in them and only wants a big cashout, he should definitely go ahead and retire.Comment
