Comments Thread For: Joe Calzaghe: DeGale Has The Style To Beat Froch

Olympic gold medal winner James DeGale (19-1, 13KOs) is aggressively pursuing a fight with IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24KOs).

DeGale is the IBF's mandatory challenger to Froch's title. Before he applies further pressure on the Nottingham star, DeGale will return on November 22 in Liverpool in a stay-busy fight against Mexican veteran Marco Antonio Periban of Mexico.

Froch, who drew 80,000 fans to his May rematch with George Groves at Wembley Stadium, appears fixated on a fight in Las Vegas - preferably against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

I agree and would much sooner see Froch , (if he's never going to set the record against Ward straight), fight Degale and not waste his time in a pointless fight against a middleweight who can't even get his arse in the gym Degale would be in shape Chavez would be stoned!

Fighting Groves' boring leftovers would be a very depressing way for Froch to retire.

But I never underestimate the UK hype machine. They could transform this irrelevant snoozefest into some 90,000 ticket tabloid bonanza.

Hardly Groves' leftovers. He lost in a boxing contest in which no one got hurt, no one seemed to be in control, and in a contest that genuinely could've gone either way. In fact, since DeGale was the one pressing the fight and moving forward, he really really should've gotten the nod. IN any case, its the kinda fight that does no lasting damage.

I think DeGale would beat Froch.

Im a Degale fan but ive never really seen him as slick. I dont think ive ever seen him in a fight where he hasn't been caught with some big shots.

              Calzaghe picks Froch to lose?

              Shocking.

I'd rather see the de gale fight but I think Froch wants to fight a big name to fight in Vegas. Stoned or fat or in shape, chavez is a big name who froch would beat easily to finish a career in Vegas in style to secure his 'legacy'

Yeah Joe, you picked Groves to beat Froch too, along with just about everyone else.

                  Stop talking nonsense.

Style maybe, but I doubt he has the ability to apply that style over 12 rounds consistently on Froch. I can see why he would give Froch issues stylistically but against lesser guys he has faded quite a bit, and making guys fade is like Froch stock and trade.
