Comments Thread For: Manager: Rigondeaux Won't Be Moving up in Weight

WBA/WBO super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (14-0, 9KOs) won't be moving up in weight any time soon.

Responding to a BoxingScene story that ran Friday where Rigondeaux promoter, Caribe, said the fighter is ready for the likes of Vasyl Lomachenko and Jhonny Gonzalez, manager Gary Hyde shot down the notion of such matchups.

This is ridiculous. Caribe and Hyde both spouting off shit, but in different flavours. I won't believe a word unless it's from Rigo himself, and he should go to 126.

That's fine but he shouldn't complain about not receiving enough attention if he won't budge 4 lbs. Let's just be realistic. You can't lord over one of the lightest divisions and become some mainstream western superstar.

126 is where the action/competition is. It'd be a shame if we don't see him fight at feather.

If he can dominate 126 he'd be easily an ATG. If he chooses to stay where's he at, he'd be an ordinary HOF'er.

To be honest the guy is right. A fighter who only gains 4 pounds after the weigh inn is not one who should move up in weight. Unfortunatly he will never fight Lomachenko, that would be a fight i would love to see. If Rigo is gonna move up he has to add muscle weight but i doubt it would be benefitial for him.
